Obituary


Judge Emett Griffin, 92, passed away on Saturday, November 26. Born in Marshville, NC, he was the son of the late Plyde Griffin and Pantha Simpson Griffin.



He was a veteran of the Second World War and served in the 78th Infantry Division of the United States Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and retired as a freight agent for the former Seaboard Coastline Railroad, now CSX Corporation. He was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylors, SC.

Judge Emett Griffin, 92, passed away on Saturday, November 26. Born in Marshville, NC, he was the son of the late Plyde Griffin and Pantha Simpson Griffin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Secrest Griffin and by his sisters, Mildred Nash and Plydene Nash and by his twin brother, Kermit Griffin, all of Kannapolis, NC.



He is survived by his son, Tracy Griffin and his daughter, Amanda Griffin, both of Greenville, SC.



A Funeral Service will be held at Mackey Mortuary on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Carter presiding and a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at East North Street Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenville.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brushy Creek Baptist Church.
